Meanwhile I would like to point out that the other 50% of this relationship
still
has never owned a car that cost more than $1,800. Sure, my wife consistently has encouraged me to buy, “whatever [I] want,” but I’m never willing to spend that kind of coin on myself. Does that make me jackass? Sources say: yes.
I have created a monster, and I kind of like it.

It’s not gonna happen.

So what I’m hearing is that you’re in the market for a Supra. Congratulations.

That would be grounds for dissolution of marriage

If her car works (it’s a Pontiac Vibe right?), then it seems silly to switch to me, but certainly it is pretty normal for people to switch cars more often than I do.
As for your cars, given that you have a company car, the others are basically a hobby, so the low budget approach makes sense to me.

It’s not like she doesn’t already have a Pontiac hatchback (if I’m remembering right).

She does, but she racks up around 25,000 miles a year.

That’s a lot of miles, but with a Aztek, you can cut down on that by sleeping in the trunk tent in the office parking lot.

I WILL HAVE TO PASS ON THAT

What’d they do?!!?! They made a Ferrari V12 sound..... bad.

It’s not her fault that:
A) You have junky taste.*
B) You are unwilling to spend any money on yourself.
*I don’t mean that as an insult. I too have junky taste ... different junk, but still junk.

With roads getting worse every day, this is the only solution.

For what it’s worth, I always tell my wife to get whatever she wants, even if a little more $. Shes very cost conscious, so it’s not like she would go nuts, no matter what. I do this partly to keep her happy, and partly because if her car is a little nicer, it makes it easier to up sell her on my next car.
Maybe your wife is doing what I do to some extent - not sure that helps you much though. :)

I’m pretty sure that purchase would require him to live in it on a permanent basis.

I’ve owned six cars, average price $900, and the first one cost $2700. My problem is that I still have four of them and half of the fifth.

A Celica Supra would fit him well (just saying)

Small, reliable crossover with AWD and decent fuel economy. Also has to pass her “cute” test. So basically it’ll be a CX-5.

They’re good little cars. My dad liked ours so much he went and picked one up. The mpgs aren’t stellar but it’s got pick up when you need it. Will haul doggo, and go camping. Plus now that she’s setting you up for kids it will do baby duty! Ha!
She can test drive ours if she wants.

Three of the are road-legal, I’ll have you know! And the $250 Jimmy didn’t even need an inspection!
